ART: Metric Zero flying over the green English countryside, red cape streaming, little silver streams winding through fields and a village below with a church tower. Warm, picture-book style.
You remember Metric Zero — the superhero from America. Well, he flew back to England! This time, not for cricket. For a puzzle about water.

ART: A little village with a small school, one big river and lots of tiny streams around it, ducks and reeds. Metric Zero landing softly by the water. Bright and friendly.
He landed by a little village school. There was one big river… and so many tiny streams, wiggling everywhere like ribbons.

River Blyth
Stream #26299793
ART: Metric Zero looking at a big paper map. The big river has a name tag "River Blyth." The little streams have blank tags — one just shows a long number. He looks puzzled. Cozy, curious.
He looked at the map. The big river had a name: the River Blyth. But the little streams? Blank. One just had a long number. "A stream with no name?"

ART: Metric Zero crouched by a little reedy stream beside the school, talking to a village girl (Bea) in wellies. She's grinning like she knows a secret. Golden afternoon.
A girl named Bea came down in her wellies. Metric Zero pointed at the little stream. "This one has no name," he said sadly.
5
the Otter Ditch
ART: Bea laughing and pointing; a warm thought-bubble of her Nana by the stream years ago. A little name-sign reading "the Otter Ditch." Joyful, a happy surprise.
Bea laughed. "It's not got no name! That's the Otter Ditch. Nana's called it that forever — her nana did too!"
6
ART: A big lightbulb moment — Metric Zero's eyes wide, a glowing lightbulb above his head, as he writes "the Otter Ditch" onto the blank spot on the map. Discovery!
"OHHH!" Metric Zero gasped. "The name was here all along — nobody wrote it down!" So they wrote it on the map. The Otter Ditch. There it was, at last.
7
ART: A different little stream, quiet and misty, with a truly blank name tag. Bea shrugs — even she doesn't know a name for this one. Gentle, a small mystery.
Then they found another little stream. Metric Zero asked, "And this one?" Bea thought hard. "That one… nobody's ever named. Not even Nana."

ART: Bea's whole class from the village school gathered by the little stream with their teacher, everyone thinking of names, hands up. Metric Zero cheering them on. Busy and happy.
So Bea brought her whole class. If a stream has no name at all — then the kids who cross it every day get to give it one. Everyone thought and thought.

Newt Brook
ART: A boy holding up a jar with a little newt, everyone cheering, a big name-sign reading "Newt Brook." Confetti joy. The stream finally has a name.
A boy had found newts there in the spring. So — fair and square — they named it Newt Brook! And it went on the map, to stay. Forever.
10
ART: Metric Zero flying home into a golden sunset over the streams and village, waving. Two little name-signs glow below: "the Otter Ditch" and "Newt Brook." Warm goodbye.
Metric Zero flew home happy. He learned the best maps aren't finished by grown-ups far away — they get filled in by the people who live right there.

A stream with no name isn't empty.
Sometimes the name is already there, waiting to be written down.
And sometimes — it's yours to give.
Is there a stream, a hill, or a path near you that your family calls something the map doesn't know? What would you write on the map?
